THE ANTI-TOBACCO RECIPE FOR SUCCESS

1. Choose an industry
2. Regulate the industry.
3. Tax the industry.
4. Sue the industry.

When one source of money dries up, return to Step 1 and repeat.

Welcome to
Save Ohio Jobs

The smoking ban in Toledo, Ohio has had a severe economic impact. The loss to the general economy and jobs has been dramatic. We are determined to prevent that from happening to the city of Cleveland.

After researching the Toledo, Ohio fight, I thought we had the antis. But, alas, they realized their old argument that business would increase was no longer viable because of Toledo, they decided to use the 'level playing field' trick!

Check New York, California, Massachusetts or Ireland and those small bar and restaurant owners will speak of job losses there as well. A recent article in the PD on Ireland related that business was down considerably.

Our best comparison is New York or Massachusetts because the weather makes patio smoking a rather chilling prospect this time of year. Most antismoking legislation requires a 25 foot distance from an entrance to qualify as pure enough for our smoke police.

Another word of warning- In New York, that famous level playing field some aspire to, is now contemplating eliminating exemptions such as smoke patios, smoke shops, and private clubs. And because of the noise factor, Mayor Blumberg is requesting that liquor licenses be canceled if two or more citations are written in a year.

As for California's level playing field, due to unequal enforcement, businesses are suing each other for unfair business practices and the attorneys are loving it.

In all level playing fields the victims are the neighborhood bar and restaurant. Some hotels were permitted to keep their smoking rooms and high powered restaurants either had the fifty thousand dollars for a smoking room or their clientele are non-smokers.

So you be the judge of these facts whose stats are available at the many websites we list here

No new antismokers are coming out to replace the customer who wants to watch the game with a drink and a cigarette.

News Bulletin:

The Small Business Coalition of Cleveland Ohio (saveclevelandjobs.com) has learned that first term Councilman Ryan Demro has sponsored a resolution to 'investigate' placing a no smoking ban in Lakewood, Ohio. The resolution reads as though the anti smoking sponsors wrote it for him.
Children testified at a meeting. Somehow the antismoking people knew of this resolution but not the Lakewood hospitality industry!!

Please e-mail the politically correct Demro and two other councilmen and share with them the information on job losses for single women with children due to this type of legislation that has closed hundreds of bars in other cities. Citing the information we received from the Toledo employers on their job layoffs due to twenty bars closing in just nine months time may enlighten them.
E-mail address for Demro: ryan.demro@lakewoodoh.net
e-mail address for Denis Dunn: denis.dunn@lakewood.net

Support us by emailing or calling these Lakewood Council people. Attend the city coucil meetings. We suggest you get there early as seating will be limited. You might be able to speak for 3 minutes. Contact us at 440-333-4375 for further information. There is strength in numbers.
We have produced professional commercials supporting our cause but we need financial support to get them on the air.
