Smoking Ban
By Jolyn Thomas November 26, 2004 Pocatello - A Republican Senator from Rexburg named Brent Hill wants to close a loophole... that allows customers to smoke in some restaurants.
Earlier this year, smoking was banned in all public places except bars, bowling alleys, and private clubs.
As a result a cafe in Pocatello called Poppa Pauls turned itself into a private club to invite its smoking customers back.
This is the loophole Hill is fighting.
" I find it terrifying that an elected official would go to extreme mesuares to take our societies basic right to choose" Says Kim Taylor Poppa Pauls
Elected officals say theybanned smoking in public area to preserve public health.
But Poppa Pauls owner says banning smoking in her cafe could lead public officials to ban other basic rights. http://www2.kidktv.com
