Police arrested an Enid man Thursday after he allegedly assaulted a woman for no apparent reason.
Brian Daniel Eck, 45, was arrested on complaints of assault and battery and resisting arrest for grabbing and choking a 19-year-old woman outside of OK Store at Maine and Madison about 1:45 p.m., said Enid Police Department Sgt. Eric Holtzclaw.
Holtzclaw said the woman stopped for gas and had stepped away from the pumps to smoke a cigarette when Eck took the cigarette from her, stamped it out and began assaulting her.
“She had no idea who he was,” Holtzclaw said. “He just started attacking her.”
Holtzclaw said several residents helped pull Eck off the woman before police arrived and placed him under arrest.
Oklahoma State Court Rec-ords show Eck has a misdemea-nor assault warrant sworn out for his arrest in Payne County. Read
Man Takes Smoke Break, Is Attacked December 31, 2004 The man tells police he was standing in a parking lot, smoking a cigarette when he was attacked. He says 2 guys came up to him and asked for a smoke. It happened outside A - Z Pawn Shop on Pratt Avenue in Huntsville on November 22nd. The man claims one of the guys hit him in the head and the other one pulled a knife on him and tried to take his car keys. Lucky for the man, his friend saw what was going on and chased the two guys away. He then took his friend to the hospital to get treated.
