CO Bars rebel against smoking ban. Several Colorado Springs bar owners are rebelling against the statewide smoking ban, inviting their customers to openly defy what they call an “illegal law."

MA:Smoking in a cars. “They are going to come into your home next,” said Gary Nolan, national spokesman for The Smokers Club, Inc. “Will we have the food police issuing tickets if your child’s (weight) is out of wack and you are heading into a Burger King?” Added Dr. Michael Siegel, a Boston University tobacco policy analyst: “This is a disrespect for parental autonomy. We allow parents to let their children play hockey and go roller blading and serve their kids terribly unhealthy food.”

Major Anti-Smoking Groups and their Politicians Get High Marks for Meaningless and Deceptive Propaganda. By Michael Siegel. In conclusion, then, every major national public health organization in the United States is part of a campaign that is deceiving the public about the proposed FDA legislation. AND: FDA Chief Tells AP Regulating Tobacco Could Actually Harm Public Health.

Patrick Reynolds: King of Misinformation. By Michael J. McFadden. Since Mr. Reynolds is so fond of throwing the "misinformation" claim in the face of smokers' rights advocates, perhaps we should examine this claim of his own a bit more closely.

Who's Your Nanny?

By Jacob Sullum. As meddling scolds, Democrats and Republicans are equal offenders. Broadly speaking, Democrats want to protect you from the physical threats posed by habits such as smoking, overeating, and crossing the street while listening to an iPod. Republicans are more interested in protecting you from the moral threats posed by temptations such as drugs, gambling, and pornography. Between them, they've got you covered, body and soul.
