Busch Gardens Smoking Policy

Dear Mrs. Butler,

Thank you for your interest in Busch Gardens. As you are well aware, the issue of smoking in public places has ardent supporters on both sides. What we have tried to do at Busch Gardens is meet the needs of the millions of guests (both domestic and international) who visit our park every year. When it comes to smoking, this means that we do not allow smoking inside buildings, walkways, waiting areas (queue lines included), on attractions, or in our children's play area - the Land of Dragons. At the same time, we do allow smoking in nine conveniently designated areas throughout the park, which are detailed on our park map. We believe that this is a compromise that is fair to all guests. Once more thank you and we are looking forward to hosting you soon.

Sincerely,

Dear Christian,

Thank you for your quick response. But please be aware that I will not be visiting either Busch Gardens or Sea World until you change your ridiculous Outdoor Smoking Policies. When Amendment 6 was passed it did not say anything about outdoor smoking bans. You and your counterparts have taken it a step too far. You do not care about your Smoking Customers and you do not have your smoking rules listed in your FAQ section. Is this an over-sight or concealment of the oppressive rules?

Also, please be aware I have made the Smoking community here in Florida aware of your outrageous policies and none of us will support you. I am part of an organization that is working very hard to get this unconstitutional law changed.

WE as smokers have supported you in great numbers in the past but will not do so in the future.

I find it quite ironic that you are still serving "BEER". Apparently you don't care if someone has a few too many and then leaves your park and kills someone.

If you are interested in changing your outdoor smoking policies please feel free to contact me.

Sincerely,
Cheryl Butler

Dear Cheryl:

Thank you for your latest correspondence. First let me assure you that our intent was not to disparage our smoking guests. Our park policies are under continuous review and Busch Gardens Tampa has responded to an overwhelming number of comments, and similar changes at most other area attractions, to implement designated smoking areas. In addition, the careless discarding of cigarette butts has caused animal health problems that we could not ignore.

There was no sinister intent in the introduction of this policy change.

Sincerely,
Christian Y. Triscornia
