10/27/08  Just a quick update on Amsterdam Airport....you can actually smoke inside the terminal. But you have to do a bit of gambling at the Holland Casino. There is a small smoking room there. I am quite surprised they don't advertise it all.

2/9/05  There is no smoking at Houston George Bush International airport and no smoking at Ft. Lauderdale airport. You must go way outside away from the buildings.

1/20/05  One such place I know of which would be very useful to fellow smokers is the sports bar at the Hilton Hotel at Chicago airport (ORD).

1/4/05  In the Louisville terminal you can smoke inside in designated areas.

4/27/04 The Fox Sports bar, at the foot of the escalator to the terminal tramway in the center of the airport, in Detroit Metropolitan Airport, and the Budweiser Brewhouse Restaurant and Lounge, in the center of connecting hallway between Concourses A, B, and C in Memphis International Airport, have both been added in the past year to year and a half for the comfort and convenience of smokers who visit these airports. These were added at the request of smoking patrons like myself who got off their rumps and wrote letters the airport officials. So, if you think your letters don't matter, think again! They obviously do make a difference.

Manchester (NH) airport has a couple of glassed-in zoo cages for smokers near the gates.

Lafayette (LA) Regional Airport has a spot (NOT glassed-in) hidden away in a little corner for about 8 smokers to sit and relax.

Heathrow, Gatwick Edinbrough, and Manchester have seating for smokers and you can smoke in bars. I would think most airports in the UK are the same. The last time I was in Venice there were "No Smoking" signs everywhere but you will usually find a policeman standing under it having a fag...I love the Italians...everything that comes of Brussels is great with them and they just ignore what they want;-) Amsterdam and Rotterdam allow smoking at bars.

Philadelphia International Airport institutes smoking ban.

In order for the citizens of the great country of America, land of the Free, to have the freedom to smoke on a plane they have to fly Aeroflot, the Russian airline. What is wrong with this picture?
On Aeroflot's international flights, once they clear the shining shores of the land of the free, passengers then have the freedom to smoke'em if you got'em. Also, unless it has very recently changed, you can smoke freely in the airport at Moscow.
Just don't tell anyone that the American Cancer Society, the American Heart ASSociation and the other anti-smoker groups are stealing our freedom... that would be politically incorrect...
